The show, which is being sponsored by 'Tyres and Accessories', will open its doors between 10am and 6pm.

The list of exhibitors will include many from abroad, in addition to a strong representation from home-based companies. Many firms will be taking the opportunity to launch new models and in some cases, new products.

Carl Schenck, based at Ruislip, Middlesex, with its parent company in Germany will be introducing brake testers for cars and commercial vehicles with pneumatic instrumentation. Rollers can be set to work automatically once the vehicle has been placed in position or, if preferred, operated by a handheld remote control unit.

A wheel balancer with a digital display, enabling the weights to be placed to correct static and dynamic imbalance in one operation will also be shown.

Hot vulcanising machines will be the main exhibit on GKN Stenor's stand (C12) along with a range of hot and cold vulcanising repair materials.

Inflation cages for fixed and portable installation wheel balancers and tyre re-groovers will be among other tools, such as trolley jacks, valve replacement tools and heavy duty battery chargers.

Air tools for use by. tyre service operators and others involved in the supply and maintenance of tyres will be displayed by Consolidated Pneumatic Tool Co Ltd from Ealin—, (C14) consisting of a range of impact wrenches, the liquiflate• fluid ballast pump designed for filling heavy-duty tyres, and a buffing tool/die grinder useful for preparing tubes and tyres for vulcanising.

HPC Engineering Ltd (C10) will have examples of single and two-stage reciprocal air compressors needed to produce and store the power for the air tools suitable for use in garages and tyre shops. Mobile compressors used on tyre service vehicles will also be shown with both diesel and petrol drive motors.

Camel back strip and slab plus side wall veneer and tread sheet will be shown by Ondura Ltd of West Yorkshire (C16) the largest independent manufacturers of retread material in the UK.

The D / 20, a deep tread radial remould tyre with its no quibble guarantee will be shown as an example of the high quality that the company claims can be achieved in the retread industry.

Fully automatic digital wheel balancers have just been introduced into this country by Pang Chemical Vulcanisers Ltd of Harlow (B14), who are the sole distributors and service agents for the Norton Corporation of America.

A useful addition to any busy garage would be the Voigts combined bead breaker and tyre spreader safety cage which can also be seen on this stand.

The Pressurebuilder claimed to be the only extruder builder in the world will be demonstrated by the Borwell Machine and Rubber Group Ltd (84) throughout the exhibition in applying fresh rubber to prepared casings.

This technique is claimed to achieve an excellent band without the use of cements or cushion gum. The tirri:3 consuming in-filling operation associated with conventional methods of tyre building is done away with, as the skives are automatically pressure filled during the operation.

Another first will be Retreading and Equipments (F2) introduction of a brand new commercial vehicle tyre with the compression tread. Experience gained over a generation in the retread trade has led this company to develop its own new complete tyre with a D20 highway pattern for commercial use.

At first it will be marketed on a test basis prior to general distribution. Other exhibits will include the Kenprest and conventional Ken tread tyres as well as a model of typical plant used in the retread process.

J. Ross Tyres Ltd (C22) collect waste rubber in the form of scrap tyres and tyre casings, of which 70 per cent are resold abroad.

In reverse, Kirkby (Tyres) Ltd, part of the Ross Tyre Group, import new and retread tyres for sale within the UK. of which some examples will be on show.

Another company showing portable and stationary compressors with a range of garage accessory equipment is Sherry and Sons (D14).

A process of cold retreading of truck tyres has been developed by the Swiss firm, VV Systems AG (05) which does away for the need of moulds or presses.

None of the machinery used in this process will be on show, but instead full information in the form of illustrated leaflets and posters will be available with some examples of the finished product.

Earth-mover tyre valves for the specialist, plus a back-up service to distributors and contractors is the theme and the stand of Tyre Valve Specialists Ltd (C38).

Examples of a wide range of commercial tyre valves, valve tools and equipment including a range of Bosal tyre changers and bead breakers available will be shown for the first time in this country.

A number of major tyre manufacturers will be exhibiting, such as the United Tyre Co Ltd (C26A), who will show some of its own brand name tyres.

Members of the Retread Manufacturers Association manufacture 60 per cent of the 18 million remoulds that are on British roads at any one time.

The RMA will be taking the opportunity to provide an information service to trade visitors as well as showing examples of its members latest products, and in so doing, hopes to rectify many of the misconceptions surrounding the remould industry.

The Garage Equipment Division of GKN Laycock will be featuring three new examples of wheel balancing equipment together with the Motospin oncar wheel balancer.

At the top of the range, the Motobalance 5000 gives simultaneous indication of both static and dynamic imbalance at the push of a button, A digital readout indicates the valve and position of the weights on both inner and outer planes.

Representing W. Bateman and Company will be several examples of the Sellarc air compressors. The portable model is a 0.25cum ,9cuft) single-phase unit, fully automatic in operation.
