Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Scania has slipped down the ladder once more, finishing in third place.

In its defence, however, the margin between it and the top two trucks was very slight: a single point, to be precise (a mere 0.1%).

And while the Scania didn't manage to excel in any category, it didn't come last in any, either. Basically, it has once again proven to be a great all-rounder. It should be noted, however, that the Scania was the only EGA truck on test, and, therefore, the only vehicle not to have AdBlue consumption factored into its fuel results.

Not easy being green

We ye already mentioned that Scalia chose a flashy colour for its truck. When asked about last year's bright red test vehicle, the Scania representative told us that so many trucks were ordered in that colour after the test that it ran out for a while. However, CM's stringent 1,000-Point Test isn't decided on colour (otherwise the Scania would definitely come first.., or last), The Scania stays true to its reputation of being a drivers' truck, It offers excellent driveability and the best working environment. And while the quality of the cab doesn't quite live up to Mercedes-Benz or MAN. it still wins on general layout.

Taking into account the other trucks' consumption of AdBlue, the Scania came second for fuel consumption as well as in performance. As with all 1,000-Point Test regulars, there are a few familiar criticisms. The Scania could have taken first place if its Opticruise clutch pedal was removed the manufacturer maintains that drivers prefer this set-up for shunting purposes, but our testers aren't convinced.

That said, it scores well on payload and visibility, and has a reasonable storage capacity. In our previous test, the Swedish marque left out some storage compartments by the bunk, which it had introduced at the IAA Show in Hannover, This year, it made no such mistake and gained a few points for the useful compartments.

Scania's R400 is an excellent vehicle that only lost out by the smallest of margins. By reacting to some of our criticisms, the Scania could well climb back to the top.
