Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The West German Government is imposing certain restrictions on hauliers during the summer. From Friday July 2 and on every Saturday and Sunday thereafter until Sunday September 5 motorways and some other roads are to be banned to hgv with authorized total weight exceeding 7.. metric tons and trailers towed behind hgv. The ban will last from 15.00 to 21.00 hours on the first Friday and subsequently from 07.00 on Saturday to 02.00 hours on Sunday.

However, some concession has been made to vehicles on international traffic which will be allowed to use certain sections of motorway running from the frontier at specified points. Exceptions are also made for any vehicles on laden journeys to and from Berlin and to the German Democratic Republic over the shortest route.

The operator who must enter or pass through Germany during a weekend is advised to make careful inquiries in advance in order not to contravene the somewhat complicated regulations.
