Tor EMBERS of Redcar (Yorks) highways IV-Iand works committee have warned United Automobile Services Ltd. that it is in danger of "pricing itself out of the market ". The committee has asked the town clerk to make the strongest possible objections to proposed increases in fares and to appear at the hearing of the Traffic Commissioners to put the council's objection.

CHI-. W. A. Kidd declared that never in his memory had United published any trading figures and they did not know what profits the company was making. "I think they should put their cards on the table a great deal more in that respect ", he said. Cllr. Burden said that as a matter of principle the council should say "stop ". whilst Clir. S. Maude declared it was not the town council that would eventually stop this he was afraid that United were taking so much out of the public that the public would eventually stop it.

A representative of United warned that further application for increased fares might be made if the 40-hour week was introduced next year. fie told the committee that 50 per cent of the company's services did not pay, whilst 35 per cent of the buses did not turn a. wheel except for one hour in the morning and in the evening peak periods.
