MANY factories have suggestion boxes. The difference about the one at Henley's is that it gets used. The valve gear photographed above is an example. This was suggested by Mr. J. Slater* who is seen explaining it to a newcomer to the factory. By ensuring proper control of steam and air supply in the curing process, this device solved what had been a serious headache. To get workers to come forward with ideas like this you need more than a suggestion box. You must have a spirit of real co-operation between workers and management. The fact that Henley's have secured such cooperation plays a big part in achieving their increasing reputation for reliability.
