• Four men have been charged with conspiracy to defraud hauliers of thousands of pounds following a three-year investigation by the West Yorkshire fraud squad.
The four were allegedly working for Leeds freight forwarders Akcent Europa/Allied Imports when the alleged fraud took place. They are due to appear at Pontefract magis• trates on 19 August, jointly
charged with defrauding creditors of the two companies between 20 January 1993 and 30 September 1993. They are also charged with intent to defraud creditors, contrary to the Companies Act 1985.
The two companies owed 60
international operators 050,000 when they ceased trading in the summer in 1993. French haulier Norbert alone Dentressangle lost £75,000,
