Huyton-based Thresher delivery driver John Williams can now phone home from his FL7 rigid. The winner of the recent Commercial Motor/Mercury Carphone competition is seen here collecting his NEC cabphone from Mercury Carphone's Sarah Carruthers and CM editor Brian Weatherley.
John's knowledge of the Highway Code and his snappy tie-breaker were enough to see off the other competitors. John recently passed his CPC after a home study course and has driven in the BTAC economy trials at MIRA.
While there was no doubt over the winner, I have to admit to being impressed by the tie-breaker from one irate driver who expressed his desire to win the NEC phone because the model (not a Mercury!) fitted in his truck is "bloody useless".
