A NX1OUS to find some method of .1"V dealing with the growing volume of traffic using the Mersey Tunnel, the Mersey Tunnel Joint Committee has asked. the Minister of Transport to receive a deputation. He has intimated that he would be willing to meet them, provided he knows beforehand what views will be put to him.
The committee are eager to discover what use could be made of the lower part of the tunnel which is no longer in operation. Last year, tunnel receipts reached a record of £877988, an increase of £60.000 on 1956.
