in October, 1959, is to have four service areas on land acquired by the Minister. of Transport. A fifth area is also planned for the St, Albans By-pass, the soutlaern continua tion of the mOtorWay. .
Each service 'area site will ,over about 10 acres and will be located al 12-mile intervals. Facilities for road users will be divided evenly on both sides of the highway, which will. be spanned by a footbridge, Motor traffic. will not be allowed to pass from 'Ofle side -to the
other. .
