• Following service trials, West Midlands Travel has ordered 40 Scania double-deck buses worth £3.6 million for delivery this summer.
They will run in Birmingham, replacing obsolete Metrobus Mkls. The Scania N1131)RB chassis have Walter Alexander LR-type bodywork. All will be equipped with Scania's low-noise, lowemission, 11-litre turbocharged engine with computercontrolled acceleration to restrict sudden throttle opening.
This order follows an £18.5 million delivery of 250 Leyland Lynx city buses which went into service last summer. 0 West Midlands Travel has resolved its dispute with MCW and the Laird Group over the final 28 Metrobuses, which have now been delivered.
