• Following service trials, West Midlands Travel has ordered 40 Scania double-deck buses worth £3.6 million for delivery this summer.

They will run in Birmingham, replacing obsolete Metrobus Mkls. The Scania N1131)RB chassis have Walter Alexander LR-type bodywork. All will be equipped with Scania's low-noise, lowemission, 11-litre turbocharged engine with computercontrolled acceleration to restrict sudden throttle opening.
