Woollen Comforts Press-packed and BAled.

The accompanying list of cash receipts concerns the first half of the present month. It shows an addition of our income of £178.

Supporters of the Fund will no doubt be interested to know that we have made special efforts during the past fortnight to reduce to a minimum the stocks of woollens in our stores. We have been confronted by difficulties of packing, in that knitted scarves and woollen Cardigan jackets quickly fill the space in a standard packing case. The solution, after various experiments was found to be press-packing and baling, in which matter, and for its successful accomplishment, we wish to acknowledge our indebtedness for valuable suggestions and assistance from the works manager of Temple Press Ltd., Mr. F. H. Noble. The result has been heavily-augmented consignments of these woollen goods, to the point of total exhaustion of our stock of Cardigan jackets, and nearly, so in respect-of knitted scarves chiefly.for

"On behalf of the N.0.0s. and men of the Caterpillar section of this unit, I beg to tender our sincere thanks for the last case of comforts received. It is pleasing to know that we are not forgotten in this foreign land by the subscribers to your splendid Fund."

Sergt. I, • Siege Battery (Caterpillar Section).

"I feel I must write and thank you for your most acceptable and useful presents, viz., a handkerchief and a pair of gloves, which I received in the distribution from the last case of comforts. The weather now is bitterly cold, and it is needless to add I shall very much appreciate the gloves in consequence."

Pte. U, Heavy Section Machine Gun Corps.

" I enclose your official receipt for the case of comforts received. In addition will you please accept on behalf of the officers, N.C.O.s, and men of this unit our very grateful thanks for the most useful articles which it contained, and coming, as they did, near Christmas, and when it was snowing, cold and wet, they will prove, I am certain, specially acceptable and beneficial to them all."—O.C., Sup.
