A NORFOLK operator has offered a £500 reward for information leading to the killer of a 14-year-old girl after reports that she had been picked up by a lorry driver before she disappeared. Albert Dent, who operates from the village of Hilgay, only three miles from the home of the dead girl, Heidi Reddin, aims to eliminate local drivers from police inquiries by offering the reward.

"We live in a small village, and we operate along the A10 road every night. People talk and they say that a lorry driver picked her up, and I hope that this will eliminate the local boys," said Mr Dent. "I've offered £500 and told my bank to pay it to the police if they ask — 1 don't even want to know who it is going to," he said. Mr Dent is hoping that other local hauliers will increase the reward to around £1,000, "this is to safeguard transport people, after all," said Mr Dent.

He thinks that the body of Heidi Reddin was brought from another spot to be dumped in the Norfolk lovers' lane where it was found three weeks ago. "You could see that spot from a truck as you went past," he said.

This week Scotland Yard Chief Superintendent Bob Chalk, who is leading the murder hunt, said that he was "very pleased" to hear of the reward.

Heidi Reddin was found dead after disappearing from her home at Downham Market before Christmas. Hope of her being found alive faded when she did not contact her parents at Christmac
