THE Western Licensing Authority on Monday granted a B licence to a Bristol company of furniture makers, J. Whiting and Son, Ltd., to enable them to carry customers' own furniture. He said that he had no reason to think that the grant would start a landslide of similar applications. To be able to carry a customer's own furniture was in the interests of business.

Loads up to 250 Cu. ft. were stipulated, together with a radius of 25 miles. The railways, British Road Services, Messrs. James and Britton and Messrs. C. Reed and Sons objected.

NEW AUTOMAT (C OIL HEATERS A NEW type of thermostatically confit trolled oil-burning space heater is being offered by Messrs. D. E_Stuttard, Westfield Mill, Mythoimroyd, Halifax. The Little burner, as it is known, has been developed in the U.S.A. and its chief feature is that it is self-igniting and self-extinguishing.

Units arc available in different sizes and of 55,000-350,000 B.T.U. per hr. input. They may be incorporated in wall and ceiling furnaces as well as normal floor-type heaters. It is claimed that the Little gives out 50 per dent. More heat than a coal fire for the sajne expenditure onfuel. Combustion is clean and free from smell.

Prices. range from £38 8s.. to £56 2s. Manually operated types are available at lower cost.
