Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Mersey Docks and Harbour Board is now operating what is thought to be the first weighing machine designed explicitly to calculate the centres of gravity of ISO containers. Designed by W and T Avery Ltd, this 75ton capacity machine consists of a 60ft x 10ft weighbridge platform supported on four 100,000lb-capacity load cells, which are connected to digital indicators and an automatic weight printer.

The system calculates the c of g position to within + 3 in. in both the lateral and longitudinal directions, and can also be used as a conventional weighbridge.
