THERE.are now 300 bulk-milk collection tankers in use in New Zealand. They are working mainly in the South Auckland and Waikato areas where 60 per cent. of the country's casein is produced.
New Zealand is second to Argentina as a producer and exporter of casein, a by-product of butter manufacture used in the plastics and paint industries.
The use of tankers has promoted its production. Collection of whole milk rather than cream has placed the emphasis upon :milk solids instead of fats.
