TYNE AND Wear Fire Brigade has taken delivery of four Hestair Dennis SS tilt-cab fire engines.
Powered by Perkins V8.640 diesel engines, with Allison automatic gearboxes, they cost £50,000 each.
A Dennis DE 133 fixed-cab turntable ladder fire engine which cost £160,000 is also in service in the region. It is fitted with a 100ft Magirus extension ladder.
Sales of the SS model now top 600 says the company.
