When the East Midland Commis-. sioners sit at Nottingham, on August 25th, they will consider.a large number of applications for licences from the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd.

Gazette No. 22 for this area shows that the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., the Eastern National Omnibus Co., Ltd. and the National Omnibus and Transport Co., Ltd., are among those that have been granted licences, whilst the Birmingham and Midland Motor. Omnibu% Co., Ltd., received two refusals.

The Commissioners for this area have planned their sittings well in advance, thus enabling operators to make arrangements in good .time for attending, which will be appreciated.

As on previous occasions, when the Metropolitan Traffic Conimissioner next holds a sitting, there should be interesting proceedings, for objection has been lodged to practically every, application for licences, many of which are in respect of services from London to the south coast. The Southern Railway Co. is, of course, well to the fore amongst the objectors, and others include the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., East 1Keiit.Road Car _Co., Ltd., Maidstone and District Motor Services, Ltd. and; other widely 'known concerns.

;-•Gazette. No 21 of the Traffic Commissioners .for the Southern Area announces the fact that the Hants and Dorset zMotor Services, Ltd., the Southern National Omnibus Co., Ltd., the Western National Omnibus Co., Lt-d., and the National Omnibus and Transport Co., Ltd., are amongst the well-known• concerns that have been granted' licences, chiefly in respect of

stage carriages. •

Additional interest will be lent to the South-Eastern Commissioners' sitting on August 24th, at Middlesex Guildhall, by the announcement of their decisions with regard to the applications of the Royal Arsenal Co-operative Society, Ltd., for licences for coaches. It may be remembered that, when its applieation came up for consideration, some important points were raised in Opposition. Many applications will be considered at this sitting, licences for services from London to seaside resorts forming the principal subject for consideration. The Commissioners have also granted a large number of licences, as is shown by Gazette No. 22.

The Potteries Electric Traction Co., Ltd., will be a well-known applicant at the Hanley sitting of the West Midland Commissioners, most of the company's applications being in respect of stagecarriage licences. This company has also been granted a large number of licences.

Gazette No. IA) of the Northern • Traffic Commissioners gives details of B37 the services for which Carlisle Corporation, a non-operating municipality, applied for licences, but which, it will be recalled, were not permitted to run. The corporation applied for licences in respect of some (30 routes. The Commissioners for this area have been busy during the past few months, and the latest Gazette shows that a large number of concerns has received licences.

Many applications have, Gazette No.

20 reveals been granted by the Eastern

Traffic reveals, whilst many

more have. been received and have yet to be considered, The Westeliff-on-Sea "Motor .Services, Ltd., has been permitted to run several services from London to Southend-on-Sea.

W. Alexander and Sons, Ltd., the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., and Glasgow General Omnibus and Motor Services, Ltd., are shown by Gazette No. 20 of the Southern Scotland Commissioners to have been granted licences; the first-named company has been refused an express-carriage service between Paisley and Aberdeen..
