• Two men have been charged in connection with the death of delivery driver Jason Weaver who died after he was run down with his own van as he tried to stop it being stolen.
Matthew Brian Watkins and Daniel Derek Bishop appeared at Caerphilly Magistrates Court following the incident. They were both remanded in custody until 25 April when they will appear at Newport Crown Court.
Father-of-two Weaver was dropping off a parcel at Caerphilly shopping centre when two men drove off In his van. Weaver flagged down a passing motorist and they chased the thieves.
When the delivery driver found his vehicle parked he approached it and attempted to recover it.
The van was then driven directly at him, leaving him with extensive injuries, including two punctured lungs and a broken lower back, before speeding off. It was later found abandoned Weaver died at the University Hospital of Wales on 14 April; a post-mortem will be held.
