• Mr. Noel R. Wynn, chairman of the Road Haulage Association, at an Association sub-area dinner in Carmarthen last Friday, returned again to the theme, which has been reiterated by his vice-chairmen throughout the country. that "it might be as well to lay aside consideration of such emotive words as 'free enterprise' and perhaps reconsider proposals put forward some time ago by a study group for changes in the administration of the RHA. What has happened", he added, "is history. We must concern ourselves with and organize for the future".
One of the changes envisaged by Mr. Wynn concerns realignment 01 the boundaries ot the RHA areas. "One is bound to ask whether the situations of our offices and the boundaries of our areas are appropriate to present-day circumstances," he said.
"For example, with the disappearance of licensing as we know it today, will it be necessary for the area office to be near the Licensing Authority's office? Would it not be more convenient and economical for members in South Wales to be served by staff based in Swansea rather than Cardiff, possibly supplemented by a mobile service?
"Taking that thought a stage further, is it at all necessary that the Association's areas should coincide with those of the Licensing Authorities—as in the main they do at present. After all. the Severn Bridge has brought us much nearer our friends in the Western area, to quote only one example."
