Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Radical changes in the pattern of the Road Haulage Association annual conference will be apparent in the 1969 event, which will be held at Aviemore from October 13-15. The RHA executive board has accepted suggestions to revitalize the conference, made by the conference working party, and the business sessions will be spread over two full days.

Perhaps setting a pattern for future years, the chairman's opening address will be followed by the prize-winning RHA essay (CM April 41 read by its author. The subject this year is "Towards a better road haulage industry".

The second presentation will be a paper on "The future role and status of the transport manager".

An innovation will be a business luncheon at which a well-known figure will speak.

In the afternoon a paper given by an expert on industrial relations will be followed by a discussion period which the Press will not he permitted to report.

The second day's business will probabN open with a talk on operators' licences anc associated problems, and this will be follower by a TV-style interrogation of two "victims' by a panel of four journalists. It is intender that this should be a really high-pressur( inquisition of two well-known people directly concerned in highly controversial topic: affecting hauliers.

The second afternoon will be devoted t( reports from functional groups and a sessior entitled "Can you help me?" in which mem bers will be able to invite advice on sorni specific business or engineering problem. Thi conference will end with the traditional ban quet and ball.

Another new move will be that on thi afternoon before the conference, facilities wi be made available for some of the functionz groups to meet.
