MR. G. W. ADAMSON is to retire from the Provostship of Fife. His road haulage business, which was started in 1923, was nationalized in 1949, when Mr. Adamson had 58 lorries running all over the country. He was a founder of the Road Haulage Association in Fife and was area chairman for 14 years.

APPLICANTS HAD NO VEHICLES

WEhave discovered that in certain cases applicants for renewals have had no vehicles," Mr. Rosser John, for the Road Haulage and Railway Executives, told the South Wales Licensing Authority, last week. Mr. John suggested that operators should be compelled to submit figures relating to their businesses.

The Authority stated that he would issue appropriate instructions to applicants, who must be prepared to produce certified accounts in support of their cases.
