THERE is to be no withdrawal by L Northern Roadways, Ltd., of its application to run services to Dover and Folkestone. The hearing was to have taken place in Glasgow this week, but was cancelled because of the Minister of Transport's decision on the

"Meanwhile we are still awaiting the decision of the Scottish Licensing Authority on our application for services from Glasgow to Southampton and Bournemouth."

It is officially stated that Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd., .Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., and otherindependent operators who claim to have pioneered London-Scotland coach services are at present examining the legal position caused by the postponement of the i-evocation of Northern Roadways licences for cross-border services.

GOVT. TO STATE POLICY?

FOILOWING the Minister of Transport's recent decision in the Northern Roadways appeal, the Western Section of the Passenger Vehicle Operator's Association is asking the Government to make a statement of policy. It is feared that the Minister's edict • may have repercussions upon licences granted to operators to run week-end leave-travel facilities for Servicemen.

Each week, nearly 500 coaches are used for this purpose within a 50-mile radius of Bristol and Ministry inspectors have recently made a check upon vehicles so employed.
