How would you like to spend a day with the Gurkhas and drive a selection of military vehicles off-road?
Commercial Motor has teamed up with 10QOGLR to bring you an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, allowing two readers to spend an entire day with the regiment when they get back to Blighty next year.
Although the exact details are still to be confirmed, you can expect the day's timetable to look something Ike this:
• Be like a General and inspect the Guard
• Receive a briefing on the regiment • Have basic Nepali language training (a few pleasantries!) • Be piped to the Officers' Mess • Enjoy a traditional Gurkha curry lunch with the officers of the regiment
• See the famous Gurkha kukri dance
• Dr-lye a selection of vehicles on the training area. The selection is subject to change at the last minute, but will hopefully include MAN, Oshkosh and Land Rover, etc
• See how Gurkhas survive in the field' The places will be decided by a silent auction, with the two highest bids winning.
The money raised will go to the regimental trust's Afghanistan Appeal. Any money raised helps to support wounded soldiers of their regiment and their families when they return from Afghanistan — this is particularly poignant given that the regiment is currently deploying on one of Its most demanding tours of duty.
