Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Kent truck drivers are the target of a Transport and General Workers Union drive to win 100% union membership in every company that recognises the union. New district organiser Bill Lambe claims the month-old campaign has already won over 115 new members at Applied Distribution and up to 20 at Strood-based LowrieIds.

"Generally speaking we're talking about 60-70% membership," Lambe says. "Now I'm going for 100% wherever I go." He says 100 Applied Distribution drivers and warehousemen signed up as the company took a new look at shift patterns but that the move is unlikely to herald industrial action.

'People accept that customers' needs are changing all the time," he says. "But if we're in there then we're bargaining from a position of best possible strength."
