Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• AWD is planning a drive into the Continental market with a Europe-wide distributor and dealer network in place by the middle of next year.

Founder and chairman David J B Brown has been negotiating with potential importer/ distributors all over Europe and, according to sales and marketing director Peter Wragg, the foundations of a Continental market network have now been laid.

"We have already made several agreements in Europe," Wragg tells Commercial Motor. "The highest priority is to establish dealerships in countries giving the easiest access. There's no point looking at West Germany before you have exploited the softer options, such as Spain and Greece."

AWD also plans to penetrate the Iron Curtain and sell its new generation TL 4 x2 trucks to Comecon nations. Wragg says the AWD range will be complete (6.5 tonnes — 39 tonnes) by the end of 1989. 7,000 trucks will be produced by the company this year.

With its long experience in producing vehicles for the armed forces the company believes it can do well in the off road and specialist vehicles sector. The trump card here is the all-wheel steer/all-wheel drive truck-trailer concept designed by sister company Multidrive, which generated a lot of international interest at the Motor Show, says Wragg.
