I DISCLAIM responsibility fo two misleading statementl attributed to me in the article or the RHA head office staff (CM. October 26).
First, my original script made it clear that Mr K. B. Spencer — not Mr L. G. Harper — is secrelary of the Steel Hauliers' corn mittee.
Secondly, I did not say that the London and Home Counties Haulage Contractors' Association and Associated Road Operators -merged to become the RNA-. They were merely two of a number of organisations that amalgamated to forrr the RHA. This was implicit in my original words.
May I add my regrets that you have shaved off Mr Spen. cer's splendid beard. He and hiE friends rather liked it.
