Clive Beattie has taken over from David Brown as managing director of Tankfreight Ltd, the National Freight Corporation's group of companies engaged in bulk transport and tank farming.

Mr Beattie, who joined the NFC in 1972, was most recently assistant managing director of Eastern BRS.

At Pickfords Heavy Haulage, D. A. McLean, low-loader services manager, and A. C. MacKinlay, special services . manager, have been appointed to the board of directors.

Seddon Atkinson distributors, Derbyshire Commercials Ltd, has appointed John Dawson as general manager. Mr Dawson has 32 years' experience of haulage and engineering, and is vicechairman of the Hull and East Yorkshire centre of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers.

David Eatock has moved to DAF as director of DAF Diesel, from Perkins Engines where he has worked for the last 10 years. Mr Eatock's appOintment forms part of the company's plan to build up its operation for supplying engines and components to other original equipment manufacturers.

Manor National Group Motors' chairman and managing director, R. A. Stoodley, has been appointed chairman and managing director of Oliver Rix Ltd, one of its subsidiary companies.

Roy Hyslop is London region sales director for Craven Tasker Sales Ltd.

The new operations manager at the Port of Preston, with responsibility for all cargo handling, is Brian Ellison. On leaving the Merchant Navy in 1967, Mr Ellison joined the British Transport Docks Board.
