THE Freight Forwarding business will turn down during 1979 and the one man operation dealing only in import/export documentation may be squeezed out, think many in the business.
But according to the latest survey by Jordan Surveys, companies in all sectors of the industry have been experiencing impressive increases in profitability during the last year.
The survey also estimates that up to 1977, freight forwarders were handling some 80 per cent of air cargo and 70 per cent of exports handled at ports. It is difficult to see the share of freight increasing significantly.
A wider range of services covering all aspects of freight movement from factory to buyer offers the only possibility of further growth.
In addition to the three years' financial record of some 260 companies in descending order of pre-tax profits, the survey includes an alphabetical listing of companies with their chief executives, and addresses, together with a run-down of the companies activities.
