The decision of the Local Government Board, to whose intention we gave advance publicity five weeks ago., that ft reverse gear need not be fitted to a motorcar whose nnladen in eight does not exceed 7 cwt., should give a distinct •• fillip " to the production of miniature vans. Every few shilliugs in mist of manufacture deserves to be studied, in preparation for the not-far-distant period when sales will he made in large numbers. The satisfactory demand for tricycle-carriers, notwithstanding their points of inferiority in comparison with small four-wheelers, furnishes proof that a huge turnover awaits those mannlacturers who first embrace the miniature-van trade. We, therefore, are glad to know that some three sets of designs are well in hand for such models, and that next year's Commereial Vehicle Show at Olympia may prove to be the occasinn of their debuts. The output of neither three nor six different makers will satisfy this market, however, :And we again commend it to the most-earnest attention of our trade supporters.
