The Dartford concept was first mooted in CM in 1972 following a sit to the French terminal Garonor, north of Paris. DFC should duce the flow of traffic through London by providing both eak-bulk and transfer facilities. It will also marginally relieve In g esti on at Dover although this is not a major consideration since e ferry operators there look for a quick turn round and the aximum possible number of round trips to France in 24 hours.
Transport and warehousing sites will be available in plots of one 20 acres or more. Access will be by road, M20, M25, 42(M) and e main arteries; by rail and by ro ro ferry to a ro ro link span.
The centre will have customs clearance facilities.
