MORE COMET BUSES FOR INDIA: Following closely on the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation's recent order for 200 Ashok-Leyland Comet 16-ft. 11-in.wheelbase buses comes an order for 100 vehicles of the same type for Bihar State Road Transport Corporation. The new buses are to be used to cover the state's transport nationalization scheme. Punjab Roadways has ordered 20 Leyland Comet passenger chassis.

RENOWN ARRIVES: The first production A.E.C. Renown low-floor double-decker to be delivered was handed over to the South Wales Transport Co. Ltd. in Swansea last week. Part of an order for 19 similar buses now being delivered, it has Park Royal 71-seat bodywork.

FIRE-CRASH TENDERS FOR AUSTRALIA: Four Thornycroft Nubian firecrash tenders have been ordered for use by the Royal Australian Navy. They are to be based on TFA 6 x 6 chassis with Rolls-Royce petrol engines and will be identical to six vehicles about to be shipped to the Australian Department of Civil Aviation, which already operates nearly 60 Nubians. The Navy vehicles are to be shipped in c.k.d. form and will be assembled and fitted with firefighting equipment by Warmalds Ltd., of Melbourne.

ROUTEMEN FOR MOLASSES: Four Scammell Routeman Mk. II' rigid eightwheelers have been ordered by United Molasses Ltd. They will be fitted with 2,600-gal. alluninium alloy maxi-section

tanks by With Gloster Equipment and used for the bulk haulage of molasses. SEMI-TRAILERS FOR NIGERIA: An order for three 8-Ion cranked-frame semitrailers has been placed with Cranes (Dereham) Ltd. by United Africa Motors Ltd. One is for delivery to the Nigerian Post and Telegraph Company, and will be used with a Bedford 14AI tractive unit. The other two are for Taylor Woodrow Ltd., for use with Bedford units. The semi-trailer frames have lull-width foredeck. The Post and Telegraph unit has fl-hr. hard-wood decking, while those for Taylor Woodrow have steel decking. Twelveplate progressive buffer-type springs are employed for suspension.

LOCAL AUTHORITIES ORDER DEMPSTER: Orders worth more than £21,000 have been received by Powell Duffryn Engineering Co. Ltd. for various units of its Dempster waste-disposal equipment. These include one from the City of Birmingham Salvage Department for two Dumpster LFW.303-C units mounted on Austin 7-ton chassis, together with 12 12-cu.-yd. universal containers and one from the Transport Department of the County Borough of West Bromwich for a Dumpster LFW.303-C unit on a Bedford TK chassis with 26 8-cu.-yd. low-construction universal containers.

SURREY AMBULANCE ORDER: A fleet of 19 Karrier-Dennis ambulances has been ordered from Dennis Bros. by Surrey County Council.

FULHAM FAVOURS THE PAXIT: The Metropolitan Borough of Fulham has ordered two Paxit Major MA refuse collectors with dustless shutters and 11,000 plasticsbodied dustbins from Dennis Bros.
