buses, the D. C. Transit Co., Washington, D.C., U.S.A., are to fit Fageol-Leyland units to 105 of their petrol-engined vehicles. The conversion will cost Sim., but it is expected that fuel costs will be halved.
The engines are imported into the U.S.A. by the Twin Coach Co., Ohio, who fit American auxiliaries and nuts and bolts. Twenty-five conversion kits have also been ordered by an operator in Sad Paulo, Brazil. .
The Delhi Transport Services have put into service the first of a fleet of 134 Leyland Worldmaster 46-seaters. The company also operate some 300 Leyland Comet buses of the type now manufactured by Ashok Leyland, Ltd., Madras.
FORD PUT UP PAY
WAGE increases of from 41 to 61 per cent. are to be granted to 33,000 employees of the Ford Motor Co., Ltd. The cost to the company in a • full year is estimated at over £1.5m. New weekly rates for a 421-hour week for Ford workers are now CO 16s. id. for skilled men, £12 7s. 9d. for semiskilled and f10 17s. 9-1d. for unskilled labour.
