Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

RECRUITMENT AGENCY Driver Hire is launching an awareness campaign to highlight the forthcoming Agency Workers Regulations.

The Bradford-based firm, which supplies HGV drivers to the industry, is hosting a series of seminars and producing leaflets “to raise awareness of the regulations and debunk the misinformation surrounding them”.

Under the regulations, which come into force in the UK in October, agency workers will be entitled to the same basic terms and conditions as those directly employed by haulage companies. There will be a 12-week qualifying period before this entitlement comes into effect.

Chris Chidley, Driver Hire chief executive, says: “Before the regulations are implemented, both agencies and haulage logistics customers will have to ensure that they understand how to apply them. There are penalties if it is proved that you have failed to meet the rights of your temporary workers.” Keely Skelton, operations manager at Eddie Stobart’s Leeds depot, who attended one of the first seminars, says: “It’s been an eye-opener.”
