Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Commercial Motor and its readers are knowledgeable about the current motorway service area inquiry. This is supposed to look at all aspects of the service areas.

What is probably less well known is that a vital part of the motorway service areas is virtually ignored. This concerns the nutritional value of the food served. My organisation, BAFF (Better Action on Food and Feeding) requested the appointment of a nutritionist or dietician to the inquiry when it started, but this was turned down.

However, two weeks ago there was some change of mind and I was asked to name an expert nutritionist so that they could take evidence from him/her. But because this person will not be a full member, the whole thing is only some kind of excuse. And that is the reason to continue with our preparation of evidence for the inquiry.

I believe that drivers, especially lorry drivers, need a somewhat different food from those people working in an office. May I invite CM readers to write to me giving their experience with food — good and bad — at motorway service areas and make suggestions. A summarised view will then be put to the committee.
