AEROSTYLE'S range of portable air com pressor sets includes models up to 24 c.f.m. delivery with drive supplied by electric motor, petrol or diesel engine. In the stationary range the models vary up to 30 c.f.m. delivery with drive supplied by electric motor.

There are nine stationary, electric motor-driven compressors, the smallest being EP3 which has a displacement of 2 c.f.m. and a working pressure of 30 p.s.i. Model AH, driven by a 5 h.p. motor and mounted on a 23 in. by 8 in. receiver, has a working pressure of 100 p.s.i. Model A2H has a displacement of 3.6 c.f.m. and a working pressure of 100 p.s.i. Model KAH (3 h.p. motor) is mounted on an air receiver 36 in. by 15 in. All models in the A range have an automatic stop-start switch.

Models EP6, PP12 and EP24 are portable, but EP24 is available as PP24 with a petrol engine and DP24 with a diesel engine. KA2H and C30 have working pressures of 100 p.s.i. with the former using a 5 h.p. motor, and C30 using a 10 h.p. motor.

A DISPLACEMENT of 7 c.f.m. is ideal for "workshops where a continuous supply of air is required. Such a compressor is offered by this company. Its single-cylinder engine and electric motor are neatly mounted on a horizontal air receiver which can be supplied either for fully or semi-automatic operation. A safety valve pressure gauge and an air and moisture trap separator are fitted.

ATLAS Copco compressors cater for the requirements of most workshops. NT7I4E, NT7E, NT914E and NT9E, are air-cooled, two-stage, twin-cylinder and single-acting with a built-in intercooler.

The two models in the PE series are piston compressors suitable for small compressed-air requirements and intermittent operation. Three KT models, again piston compressors, are particularly suitable For high-pressure systems in garages and workshops; all are air-cooled, twostage, twin-cylinder and single-acting.

In the B series, three models are available, supplied as twin-cylinder or four-cylinder and are air-cooled and single-acting with built-in intercooler.

Compressors in the NT and BT series have pressure lubrication and are rated for continuous operation. Normal-pressure compressors have an automatic valve unloading device fitted as standard. B ELLANGER BROS. (LONDON)

POUR models in this range where a robust • "machine with ample air storage capacity is required are No 55, No 11, No 15 and No 29, with the numbers denoting the displacement in c.f.m. They have totally enclosed crankcases, large bearing surfaces and ground pistons with compression and oil scraper rings. An electric motor of well-known make drives the set through vee belts, or a petrol engine can be fitted where this is more suitable. Each is mounted on an allwelded horizontal air receiver.

A smaller single-cylinder air-cooled compressor is available delivering 3 c.f.m., with electric motor or petrol engine.

BRISTBRISTOL'S range covers the whole field of OL'S in workshops and garages. The Duplex design uses a stepped piston and cylinder to allow two-stage compression to be carried out in the same cylinder.

All compressors are fitted with fully automatic pressure switch controls to stop and restart plants at predetermined pressure levels.

Smallest compressor in the stationary range is the 303 V, electric motor-powered, with a 2.5 c.f.m, displacement and free air delivery of 1.1 c.f.m. Models in vertical or horizontal receiver form are available with displacements of 5, 6,9, 15 and 20 c.f.m.

Three larger plants (35, 42 and 60 elm.) mounted on horizontal air receivers, complete this range. The largest is powered by a 15 h.p. electric motor.

p.s.i. and with outputs from 1.7 to 30.4 c.f.m. at 100 p.s.i. form the basis for a wide range of selfcontained and base-mounted units.

AC3 and AC6 have splash lubrication; AC5, AC7 and AC10 have oil-ring lubrication; while AC16 to AC41 have forced lubrication to all bearings.

For continuous running, the compressors can be fitted with an adjustable air governor, and for intermittent duties, with automatic pressure switch control.

There are 10 RM models with the same range of output as the AC machines. RM3 and RM4 air receivers are vertical; the others horizontal. An automatic pressure switch is standard. RM10 to RM41 can also be supplied in water-cooled design.

The seven TS two-stage air compressors are supplied as bare machines, or as electric motordriven receiver-mounted units, for pressures up to 200 p.s.i. and displacements from 9 to 50 c.f.m. They are air-cooled with the exception of the TS30, TS40, and TS50 supplied for continuous running at the maximum pressure of 200 p.s.i. with a water-cooled high pressure cylinder head.

There are also air-cooled two-stage compressors (TN and HP) suitable for pressures between 150 and 450 p.s.i. Small-capacity portable air compressors in the P range are available in eight models, using electric, petrol, or diesel engines.

DAWSON, McDONALD AND DAWSON LTD. Compton Works,

FROM this company come piston-type air compressors with capacities of 2.5 c.f.m. to 40 c.f.m. displacement.

Type LSH (6.5 c.f.m.) uses a 1.5 h.p. electric motor or can be driven by an internal combustion engine. LPH is a portable version of LSH with a smaller receiver. ISH has a working pressure of 150 p.s.i. with a displacement of 2.6 c.f.m. and uses a 0.75 h.p. motor or internal combustion engine.

IPH is another portable unit, similar to ISH. RSH is a twin-cylinder piston model driven by a 10 h.p. electric motor or internal combustion engine. The working pressure is 150 p.s.i. with a displacement of 41.4 c.f.m. OSH uses a 5 h.p. electric motor or internal combustion engine, and its displacement is 20.7 elm. with a working pressure of 150 p.s.i.

Suitable only for spray painting is the GRAC 0 DMD airless model.

TIEVILBISS HAC compressors are designed to meet all needs, giving working pressure of up to 80 lb. p.s.i.—normally ample for spray painting and so on—with models up to 150 p.s.i. available to order.

The twin-cylinder model is driven by an electric motor through vee belts and has an automatic device which causes the motor to idle when the air receiver reaches capacity.

DUNLOP CO. LTD. Fort Dunlop, Birmingham 24 THE Dunlop ST/21 is a stationary twincylinder compressor with a piston displacement of 21 elm. and a maximum working pressure of 200 p.s.i.

The NPE/2 portable air compressor has a displacement of 2.5 c.f.m. and an air-cooled single-cylinder engine.

'WITH capacities of 7 to 97 c.f.m. and a ,1 maximum working pressure of 100 p.s.i., Hymatic's Hydrovane tripod-mounted or mobile rotary air compressors are compact units coupled direct to electric motors. Two-stage Hydrovanes are offered with pressures of up to 150 p.s.i. and 200 p.s.i.

The Hymatic air rectifier type R.50 removes oil and water and incorporates a reducing valve to maintain pressure over a wide flow range, supplying up to three average-size industrial spray guns. The unit also contains a highpressure outlet for supplying dry, clean air at unreduced pressure for pneumatic tools and similar applications.

INGERSOLL-RAND COLTD.

165 Queen Victoria Street, London EC4 'THIS firm's models A and VE5 are small single-stage giving air pressures up to 150 lb. per sq. in.

Its Type 30 range of two-stage air-cooled compressors are compact and require no special foundations. T65 is suitable for service stations requiring air pressures up to 150 lb. Models 9, 13 and 22 cover the requirements of most garages at pressures up to 200 lb. per sq. in.

Where the demand ' for compressed air is large and continuous, as in larger workshops and in fleet transport depots, models 41, 15T and 20T are recommended. This range includes singleand two-stage models suitable for maximum pressures of 40, 60 or 100 p.s.i.

The L range for pressures up to 100 p.s.i. is particularly suitable for body repair and paint shops where the higher pressures associated with lifts, greasing, etc., are not required. There are nine models in this range.

THREE types of air compressors are marketed by this company—trolley, single-stage, and two-stage units. all prefixed by the letters KAC.

Model 380 is a two-stage compressor using a 2 h.p. motor, supplied with a vertical or horizontal air receiver with a working pressure of 200 p.s.i.

Models 381 and 382 are also two-stage, but with 3 h.p. and 5 h.p. motors respectively. Model 383 (two-stage) has a 10 h.p. motor and the receiver is horizontal with a working pressure of 200 p.s.i. The 15 h.p. two-stage is 384. The 386 two-stage uses a 1.5 h.p. motor, with the working pressure being 150 p.s.i.

Models 370 and 385 are single-stage with the latter using a 1 h.p. motor, and the former employing an 0.5 h.p. motor. Working pressures are the same —150 p.s.i. with receivers vertically mounted.

LAVCOCK ENGINEERING LTD. Archer Road, Millhouses, Sheffield 8 TN Laycock's single-stage range and suitable for tyre inflation is the LX/2 portable compressor, mounted on a tabular frame with 7.5 in. rubber-tyred wheels. Its 2.5 Cu. ft. unit gives an air delivery of 1.1 c.f.m.

The LX/3 vertical compressor is fully automatic with a pressure switch cutting out at 150 p.s.i. and cutting in at 125 p.s.i. A directcoupled 5 h.p. electric motor drives the 2.5 cu. ft. unit which has a large after-cooler and condensate trap.

Four models arc listed in the vertical range, LX/5V having a displacement of 5 c.f.m. and a working pressure of 150 p.s.i. The other three models, LX/9V, LX/15V and LX/20V have working pressures of 200 p.s.i. Displacement in c.f.m. is denoted by the model number.

In the horizontal range, six models are available prefixed by LX 5, 10, 15, 20, 35, 42, the numbers denoting the displacement in c.f.m.

TWO static and three portable air compressors are marketed by this company.

The static models are both electric motor twincylinder. One, mounted on a 36 in. by 15 in. air receiver, displaces 9 c.f.m. at 150 p.s.i.; the other, mounted on a 48 in. by 15 in. receiver, displaces 22 c.f.m. at 150 p.s.i.

displaces 2.5 to 3 c.f.m. at 150 p.s.i. Also portable are the Major and Merlin, either petrol or electricdriven, and giving 9 c.f.m. (100 p.s.i.) and 13 to 16 c.f.m. (100 p.s.i.) respectively.

TECALEMIT (ENGINEERING) LTD.

THIS range varies from single-stage, single' cylinder to two-stage, three-cylinder models (2.7 to 100 cu. ft./min.), with receiver capacities of 15 to 125 gal., with from 0.5 to 25 h.p. electric motors (or in some instances petrol engines of corresponding power), automatic start/stop dual control or constant speed systems and maximum working pressure of 150 or 200 p.s.i.

THIS company's Motivair Mk. VI B incorporates an AC7 pump, driven by a 1.5 h.p. singleor three-phase electric motor, mounted on a 12 in. by 30 in. air receiver, producing 7.1 elm.

piston displacement and a free air delivery of 4.1 c.f.m. The unit had a maximum operation pressure of 150 p.s.i. and is suitable for spray painting, tyre inflation and blow guns.

The Motivair Mk. 1XB is a mid-range compressor having a larger output and can be used for two-gun spraying, tyre inflation and blow guns. The AC10 compressor pump is mounted on a 15 in. by 48 in. air receiver and driven by a3 h.p. singleor three-phase electric motor • producing 10.5 elm. piston displacement and a free air delivery of 7.5 c.f.m.

WHITTAKER HALL AND CO. (1929) LTD.

ECIPROCATING and Hydrovane rotary compressors are marketed by Whittaker Hall.

Reciprocating models 3 V (vertical) and 4 V (vertical) have a displacement of 3 c.f.m. and 4 c.f.m. with a working pressure of 150 p.s.i. The equivalent Hydrovane model is 20A2R901 which has a displacement of 9 c.f.m, and a 150 p.s.i. working pressure.

Eight models are available in the reciprocating range with displacements of 9 c.f.m. to 30 c.f.m., the working pressures varying from 150 to 200 p.s.i. The equivalent eight in the Hydrovane range have a c.f.m. displacement from 9 to 32. Working pressures are similar to the reciprocating models.

All air receivers in the reciprocating range are of welded construction and comprise pressure gauge, safety valve and drain valve. With Hydrovane compressors it is not essential to have an air receiver except for storage against occasional demand or to enable the compressor to operate by stop-start pressure switch.

A Tandem compressor is also marketed with two motors mounted on an air receiver tank operating singly or together depending on the pressure required.

UK by Woodhead are the K.G.-A-3-8-25 and the K.G.-A-5-8-25 single-cylinder compressors. The former has an 0.35 h.p. motor, with a swept volume of 2.5 c.f.m. The latter has a 0.5 h.p. motor (3.5 c.f.m.). Each has a "frostproof" non-return valve. Maximum discharge pressure is 115 p.s.i.

VOLSPRAY LTD.

VOLSPRAY offers a wide range of self-con' tained ESH and AU units—seven of each. 2/ESH uses a single-cylinder engine driven by a 0.5 h.p. electric motor mounted on an air receiver measuring 36 in. by 12 in. The twin-cylinder 4/ESH uses a 1 h.p. electric motor.

Another twin-cylinder model is 7/ESH, with a displacement of 11.6 c.f.m. and a 2.5 h.p. motor mounted on an air receiver measuring 48 in. by 15 in.

Using the same air receiver but with a singlecylinder engine, 11/ESH has a 4 h.p. motor. 15/ESH (4.5 h.p.), 22/ESH (7.5 h.p.) and 30/ESH (10 h.p.), the size of the air receivers-60 in. by 18 in.

All models are air-cooled but 22/ESH and 30/ESH can be cooled by water if required. All the models in the AU range have slightly increased h.p. motors.
