Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Since the provision of so large a proportion of London's motorbus equipment has, in the past, been effected by the purchase of French-built and German-built chassis, it would appear equitable that English manufacturers should make strenuous efforts to obtain a share of the orders which are shortly to be placed for the large fleet of the C.ompagnie GClan'ale des Omnibus de Paris. The industrialvehicle industry has not made such universal progress in France as it has in England ; the evolution of runny successful British types of machines has removed all hindrances to successful competition in this particular instance, other than the import duty of Dl.s. 4d. per cwt. At least one manufacturing company of standing. in Gala. Britain, has been working to secure favourable consideration of its vehicles at the hands of the French contractors. The prestige of the home industry would be considerably enhanced, were it possible to claim to have carried the mar " into the enemy's country " by sending English motorbuses to run on the streets of Paris. There is no good reason why such a triumph should not be achieved : Brussels has already capitulated.
