Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• by Charles Young The wife and father of a used truck dealer exposed by Commercal Motor for selling dangerous trucks are applying for an Operator's Licence for a skip hire firm based at the dealer's former yard.

The new company, Liftinwell, trading as Bryron Skips of 28 Hythe Quay, Colchester, has placed a local newspaper advert saying it is applying for an 0-licence to run five trucks out of Station Yard, Weeley, Essex.

The directors am listed as Brian George Palmer and Cathie Palmer, the father and wife of Brian Palmer junior who was exposed by CM for selling dangerous trucks. Liftinwell plans to Operate out of the same yard from which Palmer sold his trucks.

Brian George Palmer has denied that his son has anything to do with this new firm, despite reports of Palmer junior boasting in his local pub that he is starting a new skip firm.

Speaking from Station Yard, Brian George Palmer told CM that his son has not worked since the article exposing ha business activities in 1998 (under the heading Brian Palmer Commercials) was published in February this year (CM4-10 February).

However, we had earlier been contacted by a reader who had answered an advert placed in Truck Trader magazine under the heading HIAB, Brymec and Skip Loader Specialists, This firm was operating out of Station Yard, Weeley using slightly different phone numbers from Essex Truck Centre, which Palmer claimed to be working for at the time the CM article was published. The director of Essex Truck Centre was listed as his mother, Vera Palmer.

When our reader arrived at the yard he waS met by Brian Palmer junior. Although the vehicle looked in reasonable condition it was hand to start. At this point Palmer commented: "Oh, the f...ing thing won't start."

• Brian Palmer has still not paid ownerdriver David Murray the £13,512 that was awarded to Murray by Colchester County Court last March. The judgment is in respect of money that Palmer refused to refund to Murray after Murray was dissatisfied with the condition of a truck he had agreed to buy.

Palmer did not turn up to the court hearing but told CM that as far as Murray was concerned ill be squaring him up".
