a An Irish truck driver has been jailed for five years for attempting to import IRS..600,000 worth of cannabis into Ireland. Martin Connolly of Castleblayney, Co Monagahan pleaded guilty and told the Dublin Circuit Court that he had accepted IRL10,000 from a drugs dealer to carry the
cannabis resin from Holland. The drugs were found by Customs officers at Dublin Port.
In his defence Connolly told the court that he had thought it wiser to accept the payment for carrying the drugs rather than to refuse the dealer's request.
