Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

From P. A. C. Brockington, Munich, Tuesday

ACCORDING to Mr. H. B. Kulofe, of Stuttgart, author of a FISITA paper on air conditioning, German investigators in Hamburg have proved that accidents increased by up to 25 per cent as a result of unfavourable atmospheric conditions such as extremes of temperature and/or air humidity and air pollution by dust or fumes. Mr. Kulofe emphasizes in his paper that the hazard could be eliminated by the provision of an efficient air-conditioning system.

This claim is a notable highlight, as a large number of FISITA papers, read or due to be read at the Congress on Vehicle Safety and Handling, cover other important aspects of the subject under review related to vibrations, suspensions, windage, steering, noise and braking.

Subjects of special design interest will cover a new form of air suspension to be described in a paper by Mr. R. K. Hodkin, of the Humber company; the performance of commercial vehicle engines, which will be assessed by Dr. A. H. Muller, of Daimler Benz; and an examination of vehicle noise by Mr. R. H. MacMillan, Mr. C. H. G. Mills and Mr. D. T. A sp i nal, of MIRA.

A particularly interesting paper will be read by Dr. W. Gorge, of MAN, on the effect of flexual stiffeners of lorry bodies on road behaviour.
