the Mercedes 0M4571A 12-litre charge-cooled in-line six, producing 401hp at 1,900rpm and 2,000Nm torque at 1,100rpm. The 6x2 had 64,000km on the clock, while the 4x2 had 28,000km racked up since registration. They also both had the standard MB 8221-9 nine-speed synchromesh box with direct drive top, The three-axle tractor weighed in at 7,405kg, or 970kg more than the 4x2 tractor.
We used our regular Commercial Motor triaxle CT Fruehauf Maxispeed curtainsiders for the tests. They have a seven-tonne tare weight and run on ROR discs and suspension with A rvinM e ritor tyre inflation.
