A NEWLY-equipped container terminal at the port of Southampton is to be operated and marketed in a joint venture between the C-Y Tung Group and the British Transport Docks Board.
The Tung Group will be the majority shareholder with a multi-million pound investment in additional container handling equipment. The Docks Board, with a substantial holding, will continue to own the berths and be the employer of labour.
C-Y Tung already has a container terminal at Felixstowe, and feels that the new operation at Southampton will fit in well.
