GLASGOW ACCIDENT INQUIRY

THE allegedly high accident rate of Glasgow Transport Department's vehicles is to be the subject of an inquiry when the corporation resumes next month after the summer recess.

Bailie Gordon Reid, a member of the transport committee and an insurance broker, is understood to have instigated the investigation.

He has calculated that accidents are costing the city about £300,000 a year. Figures revealed an average of four accidents per vehicle per year.
