I T is anticipated that, at a meeting in

Manchester, on January 22, final decisions will be made in connection with the proposed municipal transport board for south-east Lancashire.

Only four of the authorities originally interested in the project (Manchester, Salford, Oldham and Rochdale) remain, but the joint capital expenditure on their undertakings comprises nearly £8,000,000 of the £10,500,000 which would have been involved had all the councils continued with the scheme.

The proportion of votes in favour of the Bill, compared with those against it, is almost the same as that recorded 24 years ago, when a similar poll was taken on the issue of the introduction of trolleybuses in Brighton.
