Special Arrangements for S.T.R. Lecture at Nottingham.

S.T.R.'s lecture will be entitled " Some Controversial Aspects of Road-transport Costing." The club is an unaffiliated association comprising all the industrial traffic and transport managers in Nottingham, states Mr. L. W. Gage, honorary secretary, and has '39 members. The president is Mr. A. Riley, transport manager for Player and Sons, Ltd., the chairman is Mr. F. C. Allen, transport manager of Boots, Ltd., whilst Mr. Gage is transport manager of josepli Burton "and Sons, Ltd.

A.R.O. to Oppose Alleged Safety Bill. . . .

The need for operators to do all in their, power to interest the public in the road-transport industry was stressed by Major Eric Long, T.D., IP., at a meeting of' the Metropolitan. area of at Kew, last week. Major Long suggested that members should watch closely the work of their own Members of Parliament, and speeches made locally by M.P.s should be reported to the A.R.O. head office.

A summary of the results of the Association's work during the General Election was given, and the subject of wages was discussed. Major. Long informed the meeting that A.R.O. would strongly oppose Lord Mottistone's Bill when it was presented in Parliament.• • A.R.O. East Lames Meetings.

Mr. J. Wyndham Gibbs, superintending organizer for the area, will speak at A.R.O. meetings in Rochdale, Oldham and Bolton next week. The meeting-place at Oldham is the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, on January 21, and at -Bolton; the Victoria Hotel, on January 22, The Rochdale meeting rakes place on Monday at a place to be fixed.
