• Carpet manufacturer Abingdon Carpets has signed a five-year total logistics and distribution contract with Ryder Distribution Services.
The contract involves nationwide distribution of carpets to independent and group retailers from Abingdon Carpets' factory in South Wales and distribution depots in Manchester, North London and Guildford. The contract fleet of 11 Mercedes tractor units, 27 trailers, six demountable chassis cabs and 14 boxes will be maintained at Ryder's new purpose-built location at Pontypool.

O Ryder Truck Rental has revealed that the Army School of Mechanical Transport at Leconfield is the destination for 78 specially-converted Iveco Ford Cargo 0913s which are being used in HGV driver training (CM 25-31 May).
