FIAT UK has put the Fiorino van on sale in the UK. It was first shown at the Turin Show nearly two years ago and has been available on the Continent since early 1978. British supplies, though, will be limited at least until the New Year.

This new light van is based on the 127-903L transverse front-engined front-wheeldrive saloon and offers a payload of 430kg (8.4 cwt) excluding the driver.

The UK version will be fitted with the 1050cc (64.07cuin) engine and retains the whole of the saloon bodywork forward of the central door pil: tars.

The high-roof rear section comprises a panelled sheet steel portion raised approximately 400mm (15.7 Sin) above the driving compartment roof and offers a load space Of 2.58cum (92.1cuft).

Although longer than the saloon version by 101mm (4 ins), overall length is 375cm (147.6in) with a turning circle of 9.6m (31.5ft).

Access to the 144cm (56.7in) long, 140cm (55.1in) wide and 130cm (51.1in) high load compartment is by two half-doors, one of which can be held open to carry long loads.

The Fiorino has a top speed of 125.5 kph (78mph) and a gradeability of 16 per cent when fully laden at 1314 kg (25.9cwt).

Basic price for the Fiorino is E2701.35 including VAT.
