SPIRALLING FUEL PRICES and competition from major rivals have been blamed for the collapse of South Yorkshire haulier E Pawson & Son.
The Braithwell-based haulage firm called in administrators The P&A Partnership on Friday (11 April), and 180 staff were made redundant.
Ar 110 of those staff were based at Pawson's head office, while the remainder MI go from Pawson Europort in Norrnanton and Pawson Wakefield. However, 18 jobs will be kept on as part of an overnight delivery service through Pallex.
The business operated a fleet of 112 trucks.
A company spokeswoman says soaring fuel costs and competition from major logistics companies had caused Pawson's demise.
