Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I write with reference to the points raised about the CV Show by Albert Hendrikse of Volvo Truck & Bus and Ian Jones of Mercedes-Benz, (CM 20-26 March).

It has been clear for some time that condensing the original IATE Show, Tankcon, Tipcon and Commercial Vehicle & Body Show into one venue over three days was a tall order; however, there was no need to subject the show to the price tag of the National Exhibition Centre.

Why not move the show to a spa town such as Harrogate or the Royal Showground, which is used to catering for an event of this size? Not only would the latter venue, with its huge modern site and trade buildings, be an improvement but it would also be a viable proposition for the less wealthy manufacturers who want to exhibit their products.

The reduced cost associated with the change of venue would also mean that the show could be extended, rather than the exhibitors' overdrafts. Mr MS Starkey, Cannock, Staffordshire.
