• Alcolocks--alcohol ignition interlocks— may be about to undergo official trials in the UK, according to RoSPA. They're designed to prevent people from driving if they're over the limit.

The National Swedish Road Administration has proposed that all new heavy trucks sold in Sweden should be equipped with them, and has been conducting trials involving some 20 vehicles. Volvo dealers in the Nordic region are offering them as an option at a cost of E1,300, but there are as yet no plans to sell them in the UK.
