Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Police are appealing for witnesses after a truck driver was hijacked and his 135,000 cargo was stolen. The driver was eventually dumped 30 miles away.

The incident happened at around midnight last Tuesday (8 April) at the Plisworth Industrial Estate in Bury.

The driver was asleep In his cab when he was woken by three men who dragged him out of his truck and bundled him into a green Mondeo. They then drove him to the Northwich area of Cheshire, where he was released in a remote country lane. The car was later found burnt-out close to where the driver had been released.

His cab was also found burnt-out In the Skelmersdale area of Lancashire. The trailer was a red curtain skier with the logo 'Trans America Leasing'; the load of Sensodyne toothpaste and Papermate pens is still missing.

The 45 year-old driver says: "It was a frightening experience, There were a couple of moments when I thought I wouldn't be coming back."

Detective Inspector Simon Collier says: This was a terrifying ordeal. A hardworking, family man was subjected to a ride of terror during which he was threatened and made to fear for his life.

"Several other trucks were parked on the estate at the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone with Information regarding the taking of the vehicle, the whereabouts of the trailer and its contents or sightings of the vehicle to contact the police."

Jack Crossfieid, secretary of the Drivers Action Movement, says the incident highlights the need for the government to take immediate action on overnight parking problems. "This truck driver's life was put under unnecessary risk of serious harm because he parked on an industrial estate. Transport minister John Speller needs to look at this problem."
